Chakra
Meditation
When meditating on your chakras it is good to
encourage the use of aromatherapy
and essential oils. Essential oils of Frankincense, Sage and
Patchouli are great
oils to help cleanse and open your chakras while you focus on your
meditation.
Sit down in a chair with your feet on the floor,
your back against the back of the chair
and your hands resting comfortably on your thighs. Take a few
moments to relax,
making sure you are truly comfortable before beginning your
meditation. Close your
eyes as this will help you to shut out external distractions and
focus inwardly.
Start breathing in slowly and deeply for four
seconds, focusing on the breath going
into your lungs, hold the breath for two seconds and then release
slowly for four
seconds focusing on your lungs decreasing. Do this about four
or five times and
then let your breathing return to normal while still focusing on
it.
Imagine that your chakras are flowers and
focusing on one chakra at a time beginning
at the crown, take a deep breath in, imagining the breath as a
violet light coming in
through the chakra and opening up a flower then release the breath
imagining that
you are breathing out through the chakra. Continue to do this for
several minutes
while focusing on the function of the crown chakra, inspiring you
to act for the highest
good before moving onto the next chakra and repeating the
process.
Continue to do this as you work your way through
the chakras one at a time.
For the third eye chakra focus on an indigo light
as your breath and ask it to bring you
insight into your life and the intuition you need to navigate the
day successfully.
For the throat chakra focus on a blue light and
ask for fluency of speech and wisdom
to say what other people need to hear.
For the heart chakra focus on a green light and
feel it bringing you a sense of
peace and unconditional love for yourself and others.
For the solar plexus chakra imagine a yellow
light and focus on becoming
wakened to new possibilities and ideas.
For the sacral chakra focus on an orange light
and feel the sense of joy
and vitality come to you.
For the root chakra imagine a red light and feel
the warmth that it spreads through
your body as you breath it in. Focus on grounding yourself and
finding the inner
strength that you need for whatever challenges you may face.
Before you finish your meditation it is important
to close the chakras otherwise
you will be vulnerable to external influences. View your chakras
like flowers with the
petals folding inwards to protect the centre. Then gently bring
yourself back to
awareness and back to the present and when you are ready, open your
eyes.
