Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese wisdom that dates back more than 4000 years. It 
means wind and water and studies the influence it has on human life. Feng Shui is

including how it is affected by out buildings, our decor and our landscapes etc.

By applying Feng Shui to your surroundings you can obtain a balance of happiness and 
success in all areas of your life. The Chinese belive that positive and negative outcomes 
are the results of favourable and unfavourable Feng Shui. For many centuries the 
Chinese have practiced the art of placement for the benefit of themselves and the 
environment in which they live. 
Below are the meanings of  just some of the many items used in Feng Shui and how 
they are said to influence our lives.

Feng Shui Symbols and Meanings

Bagwa (Pa Kua)

Considered to be of great importance in correcting the Feng Shui in a place of 
residence or business. You should always place outside the home and never inside. 
he  bagwa is regarded as a protective charm to attract good luck and repel bad. It is 
said the bagwa was born on the back of a creature that rose up from the depths at the 
dawn of time and the secrets of the universe are contained within it.

Bamboo Wind Chimes

be harming your property.

Bells

Considered to represent good fortune, and protection. When used in business they 
should be placed along the west or northwest wall to bring good fortune. Great to 
hang around your home, preferable where they will catch the draft. Bells are used 
to attract positive energy to any area in which they are placed.

Butterflies

Represent  love and joy. It is considered extremely bad feng shui to 
display dead butterflies.

or under cash register to generate new  business. They can also represent protection

Dragons

Represent luck, fortune and protection. The Dragon symbolises the essence of 
vitality, strength, protection and goodness. They may be placed in any direction as 
it represents strength and support for all aspects of health, wealth, happiness, career, 
love and knowledge. They say you shouldn't place inside the home facing the front 
door and never in the bedroom.

Ducks

Mandarin Ducks form a strong attachment to their partners, they are also an emblem 
of conjugal fidelity. A pair of Mandarin Ducks are excellent symbols for keeping love alive. 
Always keep together in a pair.

Elephants

Represent wisdom, strength, dignity and justice. If there is a Money Frog sitting on 
top of the Elephant it symbolizes blessed abundance which is represented by the 
trunk of the Elephant raised towards the Money Frog. It is believed that a woman 
wanting to conceive who places an elephant with it's calf in her bedroom will increase 
her chances of her having a boy. Elephants with their trunk up are lucky and welcoming 
if their trunk is down they are ready to protect you.

Fish

All fish are considered lucky for abundance and money.

Fu Dogs/Gate Lions

These dogs resemble lions and they symbolize prestige and power. They come 
in pairs and should be placed one on either side of your front doorway for protection. 
The male is usually depicted holding a globe to signify important global network for 
business people outside and external protection,  while the female holding a child 
signifies protection of members of the household or premise. From inside looking 
out of your premises the male is placed on the left and the female holding a child is 
placed on the right.

Horses

The Horse is a symbol of a life full of good fortune, strength, perseverance and 
success. Horses are a very auspicious symbol as they are believed to help 
you overcome obstacles and make life Run more smoothly.

Jade Coins

Coins are usually used to influence prosperity. Hang behind the front door to prevent loss.

Laughing Buddha

Lotus

This is the most potent and popular enhancer of good fortune, a powerful magnifier 
of wealth, business, prosperity and good networking. For business people, placing 
this on their office desk would bring bigger deals, enhance negotiating power, more 
customers and a bigger income.

Lucky Knot Coins

Also known as "peony knots" these are especially potent to improve wealth luck, 
windfall luck and speculative luck. These symbolically represents power, riches, wealth 
and rank. We can tap into its luck by carrying these coins in our wallets and bags.

Metal Wind Chimes

It is always best to hang the metal wind chimes on the west side of your home to 
bring in and promote good fortune.

Money Frogs

Associated with wealth due to its closeness with water, which is also a symbol of 
wealth. The money frog is also believed to guard against misfortune and bless the 
home with wealth and prosperity. The money frog may be placed in the southeast 
corner of your home or business.

Pigs

It is said that pigs bring great prosperity and happiness to  a household. It is best to 
have a pair as one should be male and the other female as this symbolises harmony 
and balance as in Yin and Yang.

Quan Yin

The Quan Yin is the goddess of mercy, healing and compassion. Also known as 
the female Buddha. She blesses Everything around her. She is known as the eternal 
protector of all children. You can place the Quan Yin in any room and it is said to help 
calm the environment of negative influences such as illness, disappointments 
and arguments.

Turtles

Symbolises a long and fruitful life filled with good fortune. Also represents protection 
and courage in the face of adversity. May be placed in your work place, or any place 
in your home you feel would benefit from its symbolism.

Wa Lu / Wu Lou

One of the most significant tools to promote Feng Shui. The Wu Lu represents 
health, longevity and prosperity.

Water Fountains

Water fountains are great Feng Shui for the purpose of generating energy and 
accumulating good chi energy so that prosperity can flourish. Never let the water 
sit still too long and don’t allow the water to go stale as this will create bad chi.
